News: New 'Mortal Kombat' trailer / poster

Making his feature film debut as director, Simon McQuoid has rebooted the film franchise of 'Mortal Kombat', based on the video game series created by Ed Boon and John Tobias.

After the 1995 sleeper hit original Mortal Kombat but a disappointing 1997 sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, there have been many attempts at re-igniting the love for these films and games. Successful video game continuations, graphic novels and animated movies followed but it's only now nearly 25 years later that we get a third big-screen outing.

With a launch in American theatres and HBO Max streaming in April 2021, a debut trailer and poster has been dropped featuring many nods to the past and lots of fan-favourite characters, gore and fight sequences made famous by the games.

We were also treated to a series of gorgeous character posters, teasing the appearance of characters such as Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Raiden, Shang Tsung and Kung Lao.

Mortal Kombat will star Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Joe Taslim and Hiroyuki Sanada.
